This exceptional Cleoniceras ammonite from Madagascar measures 10.8 inches tall by 9.44 inches wide and 3.39 inches thick, with a weight of 14.22 pounds. Its preserved shell shows bold ribbing and natural fossil structure throughout, while subtle iridescent areas catch the light and bring added dimension to the specimen. The large scale and balanced spiral form give it strong sculptural appeal, making it as compelling for display as it is for collecting.
Sourced from Madagascar, one of the world’s best-known localities for preserved ammonites, this fossil represents the genus Cleoniceras, an extinct marine cephalopod from the Cretaceous Period. The combination of substantial size, natural shell detail, and flashes of iridescence sets this example apart from more ordinary whole ammonites. It is a striking and substantial fossil, well suited for a curated collection, cabinet display, or refined interior centered around natural objects.
