This petrified wood limb piece is a study in contrast. Measuring 5" long and 2.7" x 1.4" across and weighing just under a pound, it's an easy piece to tuck onto a shelf, desk, or windowsill without taking over the space — but it has real presence once it's there.
The natural outer bark is preserved exactly as it was, rough and richly textured in deep reds, browns, and black, while both ends have been cleanly cut and polished to reveal the smooth, dark interior with its delicate white veining. Displayed on its side, it reads like a tiny cross-section of ancient wood — rugged on the outside, refined at the ends.
