This Madagascar petrified wood slab, measuring 16.7" wide by 13.75" tall and 1" thick and weighing 14.56 lbs, arrives with a beautifully complex palette of warm browns, soft taupes, smoky grays, and subtle reddish tones woven throughout the preserved grain. Sourced from Madagascar, it retains remarkable evidence of the original wood structure, with sweeping growth patterns, mineralized detail, and intricate natural formations visible across the entire face.
Both sides are polished to a gloss finish, and the patterning carries through the slab, giving each side its own striking composition. Natural voids and open areas interrupt the polished surface in dramatic places, revealing rough, organic pockets within the fossilized wood and giving the piece a distinctly sculptural character. Rather than taking away from the specimen, these openings highlight the irregular way the original wood decayed and mineralized over time.
Its substantial size and weight give it impressive presence whether displayed upright on a stand or laid flat as a statement piece. This slab is part of our Reserve Collection because of its exceptional scale, double-sided polish, preserved wood structure, dramatic natural voids, and unusually distinctive overall character. Stand not included. Shop the Stands & Accessories Collection.
