This elegant accent pillar, standing 8 inches tall and approximately 4 inches square, weighs 10.9 pounds and is crafted from authentic Chinese Picture Jasper. Found in the mountains of southern China, especially near Dali in Yunnan Province, Chinese Picture Jasper is a sedimentary stone admired for its natural landscape-like patterns. Also known as Chinese Painting Stone, Chinese Scenery Jasper, or Shui Mo stone, meaning “water ink” stone, these remarkable pieces often resemble traditional brush paintings with scenes reminiscent of mountains, mist, and distant horizons, all formed by nature.
These accent pillars were custom made for Putnam Valley Trading Co., and you are not likely to come across others quite like them. Similar pieces are often mounted on permanent wood bases, which can distract from the stone itself and cannot be removed because the bottom portion is left unfinished. These were intentionally made without a wood base, allowing the natural stone to stand on its own for a cleaner, more refined presentation that keeps the focus where it belongs.
